Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen on Committing Suicide Attacking The Enemy by Blowing Oneself Up In a Car

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen on Committing Suicide Attacking The Enemy by Blowing Oneself Up In a Car
by
Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen

Kaifa Nu'aaliju Waaqi'unaa al-Aleem)

Question:
What is the ruling regarding acts of jihaad by means of suicide, such as attaching explosives to a car and storming the enemy, whereby he knows without a doubt that he shall die as a result of this action?

Response:
Indeed, my opinion is that he is regarded as one who has killed himself (committed suicide), and as a result he shall be punished in Hell, for that which is authenticated on the authority of the Prophet (
sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam).

[((Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever)), [Bukhaaree (5778) and Muslim (109 and 110)]].

However, one who is ignorant and does not know, and assumes his action was good and pleasing to Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala), then we hope Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) forgives him for that which he did out of (ignorant) ijtihaad, even though I do not find any excuse for him in the present day. This is because this type of suicide is well known and widespread amongst the people, so it is upon the person to ask the people of knowledge (scholars) regarding it, until the right guidance for him is differentiated from the error.

And from that which is surprising, is that these people kill themselves despite Allaah having fordbidden this, as He (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) says:

{And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allaah is Most Merciful to you}, [Soorah an-Nisaa., Aayah 29].

And many amongst them do not desire anything except revenge of the enemy, by whatever means, be it halaal or haraam. So they only want to satisfy their thirst for revenge.

We ask Allaah to bless us with foresight in His Deen and action(s) which please Him, indeed He is all Powerful over all things.

Do You Know Aafia Siddiqui? (Information on Sister Aafia Siddiqui, what YOU can DO!)

Do you know Aafia Siddiqui?

She is a Muslim woman kidnapped by the Pakistani intelligence authorities in 2003 and handed over, as so many of our brothers and sisters have, to the Americans. She was held in the notorious Bagram Prison in Afghanistan for five years. How many of us are even aware of this? This Ummah of Muhammad (salalahu ‘alyhi wasalam) is one body and the pain of one part, of one person, makes the whole body sick. How many of us felt the pain of her kidnapping and of her separation with her three children? Had it not been for the efforts of Cageprisoners and sister Yvonne Ridley, she would have been just another soul lost in the labyrinth of injustice and cruelty. Just another Muslim whose life has no value, whose blood is cheap, whose honour is worthless and who name, whose very existence, is soon forgotten. How many of us pray for our brothers and sisters in prisons around the world? How many of us shed tears for their sufferings? How many of us ever care?

Aafia Siddiqui was held in that cursed prison for five years. She was tormented by the Kufaar, who hate and torture has been exposed on many occasions. She was the lone woman surrounded by men who have no shame and no compassion. She was surrounded by animals to whom a Muslim woman is a toy. Raped, forced to shower naked in front of her captors, beaten by the Kufaar. Some of our Mujahideen brothers who escaped from that prison in 2005 would later tell of her screams from the depths of torture den of the tyrants, as she was violated time and time again. She was humiliated and disgraced by the Kufaar and their allies and worse of all, worse than even all of this suffering, she was forgotten by us.

As the Muslims were starting to awaken to the calls of help of our sister and asking questions, the United States, sensing an impending storm, quickly staged a cover up story, of the likes that we have seen before to bury their hate of the Muslims and to disguise the true nature of this war that we are fighting. According to them, she was captured recently in Afghanistan attempting to provide ‘support for al-Qaeda’ and interrogated. It is interesting to note here that the puppet Afghani government accuses her of being a potential suicide bomber; the two tyrants cannot even get their stories right! The version fed to the media, rather the lie fed to the world, is that the sister was shot during interrogation after an attempted attack on the American soldiers.

“It is reported that when Dr. Aafia disappeared in 2003 she had three children of which the youngest was an infant. However when Dr. Aafia was produced in the court she had only one child in her possession. While the whereabouts of her other two children are not known, there are credible reports that of the two missing children one child had died in custody. The circumstances that led to the death of the child [are] not known and the authorities having custody of Dr. Aafia and her children [have] thus far remained silent about it.
Dr. Aafia's physical and mental state when she was produced in court on August 5 is suggestive of the treatment a detainee like Dr. Aafia receives in custody. Dr. Aafia was reportedly not in a position to speak or even able to verbally respond to the court. Such physical and mental state of a detainee is also an indicator of the condition in which a suspect is detained and interrogated by the authorities responsible for this case.” – Asian Human Rights Commission (5 August, 2008)

“A letter written by Dr Aafia’s counsel Elaine Whitfield Sharp, on behalf of the detainee, to Pakistani ambassador in Washington Husain Haqqani, reveals that the Americans have stressed the need for strip-search of Dr Aafia every time she would meet someone. The inmate is required to be stripped naked and checked to find he/she is not hiding anything on his/her body. I think you will agree that this type of strip-search is not only humiliating and degrading but is also offensive to a woman who is a devout Muslim, as is Dr Siddiqui, the paper quoted her as writing in the letter

The counsel further wrote: Because it is so offensive, Dr Siddiqui is now refusing to undergo this ”procedure” and because she will no longer consent, she is now forbidden from having a contact visit with her attorneys.

Dr Aafia’s counsel further wrote in the letter: I write to you on behalf of Aafia Siddiqui, PhD, a 36-year-old Muslim woman and Pakistani citizen, who is in pre-trial detention at the Metropolitan Detention Centre (MDC) in Brooklyn , New York . Dr Siddiqui is not allowed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BoP) to have contact visits, that is, she is not allowed to come into physical contact with anyone.” – ANI, August 11 2008.
And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? Men, women, and children, whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!” (al-Nisa: 75)

The Categories of Tawheed by Shaykh Saalih ibn 'Abdillaah Al-Fawzaan

The Categories of Tawheed

by

Shaykh Saalih ibn 'Abdillaah Al-Fawzaan
From his book Duroos min Al-Qur'aan Al-Kareem (p.12-14)

[ In the Name of Allaah, the All-Merciful, may His Salaah and Salaam be upon His final Messenger, and upon all his family members and companions, and those who follow his way, to proceed... ]

Tawheed has three categories understood directly from Allaah's Book. This division of tawheed is not from someone's opinion, nor is it merely a traditional way to explain tawheed. It is a division that is taken directly from Allaah's Book.

The first category is tawheed ar-ruboobiyyah, which means "to single out Allaah in understanding His Actions," like His creating, providing, bringing of life and death, and keeping order in all affairs. A person understands that Allaah alone is the Creator, the Provider, the Ever-Living One in charge of all affairs.

The second category is tawheed al-uloohiyyah, which means "to single out Allaah within the actions of the servant." This includes all actions that draw them closer to Allaah, Glorified and Exalted, like:

Du'aa' - supplication
Khowf - fear
Rajaa' - hope
Rahbah - awe
Ragbah - longing
Tawakkul - trust
Isti'aanah - seeking general assistance
Istighaathah - seeking assistance in emergencies
Thabh - slaughtering
Nathr - taking oaths

All forms of worship must be strictly for Allaah alone, and nothing can be done for other than Him. This is what is called tawheed al-'ebaadah, or tawheed al-uloohiyyah, and it is the tawheed that is put into practice as the servant singles out Allaah in everything He has requested, with an intention for Him alone, in all acts of obedience.

The third category is tawheed al-asmaa' was-sifaat, which means "to believe in every Name and Attribute that Allaah affirmed for Himself, or those that His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) affirmed for Him.

These three categories are understood directly from Allaah's Book. Every verse that mentions Allaah's Actions, like creating, providing, bringing life and death, and controlling affairs, is describing tawheed ar-ruboobiyyah. This is quite frequent in the Qur'aan. Allaah says [1]:

( Say: 'Who owns the earth and all that is on it, if you truly have knowledge?' They will say: 'Allaah.' Say: 'Then won't you be reminded?' Say: 'Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Great Throne?' They will say: 'Allaah.' Say: 'Then won't you have taqwaa?' Say: 'In whose Hands are the treasures of everything, and He protects while there is no protector against Him, if you truly have knowledge?' They will say: 'Allaah.' Say: 'How then are you deluded from the truth?' )

Allaah also says [2]:

( Say: 'Who is it that provides for you from the heavens and the earth?' Or 'who possesses hearing and sight and brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living? And who is in control of the affairs?' They will say: 'Allaah.' Say: 'So then won't you have taqwaa?' )

Similarly, every verse that mentions the creation of the heavens and the earth or other created things is about tawheed ar-ruboobiyyah.

Every verse mentioning worship, whether it be a command to worship Allaah or a prohibition of shirk, is about tawheed al-uloohiyyah.

Every verse mentioning something about Allaah's Names or Attributes is about tawheed al-asmaa' was-sifaat.

All of these categories are found in Allaah's Book, and this is what led the scholars to say, "Tawheed is three categories: uloohiyyah, ruboobiyyah, and al-asmaa' was-sifaat." They did not invent this division on their own, rather it is something directly from Allaah's Book. I will elaborate on this later, in shaa' Allaah. [3]

The Meaning of the Word Tawheed by Shaykh Saalih ibn 'Abdillaah Al-Fawzaan

The Meaning of the Word Tawheed

by

Shaykh Saalih ibn 'Abdillaah Al-Fawzaan
From his book Duroos min Al-Qur'aan Al-Kareem (p.11-12)

[ In the Name of Allaah, the All-Merciful, may His Salaah and Salaam be upon His final Messenger, and upon all his family members and companions, to proceed... ]

What exactly is this tawheed that is so important, that which holds such a high position?

Liguistically, the word tawheed comes from the word wah-hada, which means to make something waahid (singular). Waahid is the opposite of two, three, etc., the opposite of plurality. So waahid is something that will continue to be singular and never become a partner of something else.

As for the Sharee'ah's definition, the tawheed means to single out Allaah with all forms of worship, so that you make all of your worship for Allaah alone. Allaah says [1]:

( …and the religion will be entirely for Allaah )

The word religion in this verse means worship, as Allaah says [2]:

( and I have not created the Jinn nor Mankind except to worship Me )

And Allaah says [3]:

( and worship Allaah, and do not ascribe a single partner to Him )

Allaah also says [4]:

( So call on Allaah, making the religion entirely for Him, even if the disbelievers detest it )

This is the meaning of tawheed - to single out Allaah in all acts of worship and to abandon the worship of anything else.
